Friends of the New Jersey Transportation Heritage Center

The Friends of the New Jersey Transportation Heritage Center, Inc. is a growing, volunteer organization of over 500 members founded in 1989. We are totally dedicated to supporting the creation, development, and operation of a Transportation Heritage Center in the Garden State. We provide assistance to the United Railroad Historical Society of New Jersey and the New Jersey Transportation Heritage Center Commission. New Jersey has a proud and distinguished transportation tradition. We have preserved and are restoring 30 vintage buses and coaches, several antique trucks, and a trolley car. Over 200 truckloads of archives, artifacts, supplies and materials for the Heritage Center have been secured and moved to Phillipsburg. We believe that an operating Heritage Center will best preserve and showcase our irreplaceable railroad, bus, truck, canal, trolley, and ferry transportation heritage.

“Friends” can always use help in their work of promotion, publicity, dismantling, trucking, preservation, restoration, oral history, archival documentation, publication, running an all day symposium, operating tours, fund raising and other efforts to facilitate the Heritage Center. The creation of the Heritage Center requires the enthusiasm, commitment, unity and support of many “Friends.” Please help us achieve our goal of establishing a first – class ride experience oriented, operating Heritage Center that proudly exhibits the colorful, exciting and fascinating New Jersey transport history. Members receive our 12 page bulletin, New Jersey Transport Heritage, six times per year. Our annual symposium focuses on all modes of transport heritage of our state. Dues are only fifteen dollars annually (but soon to be raised). We are an IRS designated 501 (c)(3) non-profit educational organization. Please write to:
