FIFTEENTH ANNUAL SYMPOSIUM
SATURDAY, APRIL 2ND, 2005 9 AM - 5 PM
This day long public event will feature 17 fast moving, informative, illustrated presentations. It will focus on the statewide effort to create a Transportation Heritage Center and preserve/ restore Jersey's historic transportation equipment, structures, sites, artifacts and memorabilia.
This is an important symposium for everyone who wants a New Jersey Transportation Heritage Center. The activities, accomplishments, and future plans of the organizations working to preserve and restore New Jersey's rich and varied transportation history will be presented. You will be able to ask questions, learn, benefit and participate...
HIGHLIGHTS
HERITAGE CENTER UPDATE: Accomplishments, current status, property & building acquisitions and future plans at Phillipsburg.
PRESERVATION & RESTORATION: See the successes of Friends, United RR Historical Society & others around the state.
A LOOK AT NEW JERSEY's TRANSPORTATION HERITAGE: Presentations will cover NJ railroads, buses, trucks, canals, trolleys and ferries including scheduled looks at Pullman Tableware & Usage; 1950's View of NY Harbor, Locomotive Builders Plates; Securities of Transportation Companies; NJ barge graveyards; the Erie RR Organizational Plan of 1855; Friends Bus Rehabilitation; Kerry Day Memorial; Somerset Traction System; McAllum Bridges; Phillipsburg's Growing Railroad Tourism Attractions; Duties of a Flagman and perhaps some surprises. The day will conclude with an auction of Transport Artifacts, Publications, Memorabilia and Model Railroad items, with all proceeds going toward the New Jersey Transportation Heritage Center.
SYMPATHETIC ORGANIZATIONS: Various United RR Historical Society member organizations will have information & sales tables.
EXHIBITS, SHOW & TELL ITEMS, FREE LITERATURE: We welcome member artifacts, models, brochures, handouts, literature, flyers of future events, samples of publications from your nonprofit organization, and anything else focusing on NJ transportation...
HISTORIC RAILROAD/TRANSPORTATION ENTERTAINMENT: Guaranteed to educate and to be enjoyable, plus a packet for each attendee.

EVERYONE interested in New Jersey's transportation history should attend, whether you want to be a part of, or just learn about the vital work of creating a Heritage Center and preserving/restoring the transportation heritage of the "Garden State". This is your opportunity to "network" with the people and organizations who are leading the constantly expanding statewide effort to build the New Jersey Transportation Heritage Center. LOCATION: Drew University, Hall of Science Auditorium, Route 124 (Madison Ave./Main St.) Madison - just west of the center of town, within walking distance of the NJ Transit Madison Railroad Station. (The Hall is located at the east side of the campus - closest to the NJT station.)
