| Above is Public Service #Z-603 at 1968 GMC model PD-4903 whose restoration was completed in December of 2005 at Bus Body Works, S. Amboy NJ. This restoration was undertaken through funding under the "Enhancements" provisions of the Federal Transportation "TEA-21" Act. The grant is administered by NJDOT as an agent for Federal Highways Administration. Friends is the recipient of the grant to rebuild six historic buses in the New Jersey Transportation Heritage Center collection. This is the third in the series of vehicles rehabilitate. See #P-700 and Z-546 for other examples of the restoration effort. |

| Here is #Z-603 at NJT Howell Garage being admired by the staff there. One of the veteran drivers at Howell recited his experiences driving the coach in service. Being a manual transmission coach, most of the current professional bus drivers with CDLs could not operate this vehicle. |
