2008 Annual "Friends" Meeting
All members of the "Friends" are invited to a fun filled day in Phillipsburg
Saturday, June 7, 2008
EVENTS OF THE DAY
9:30 - 10:30 AM Free continuous tours of the CNJ - DL&W Union Station, our headquarters and museum for members and guests.
10:30 - 11:30 AM Our Annual Meeting in our railroad station. (Receive your Free steam train tickets at the meeting, one per member; non-member guests must pay.)
11:30 - 12:20 Light Lunch (quality hot dogs, soda, chips) for sale at low prices at the station.
SPECIAL FEATURES FOR "Friends" MEMBERS ONLY
12:30 - 2:00 Ride behind a Steam Locomotive in our reserved coach on the former PRR Belvidere - Delaware RR from the station adjacent to our station. Free to Friends Members for this trip only. Tickets will be distributed during the Annual Meeting. Guests must pay for ticket.
3:00 - 5:00 See the magnificent NJ Public Service trolley car #2651, just completely restored at the Phillipsburg Historians site a few hundred feet from our parking lot. Other neat equipment is there too, including the ex-Chestnut Ridge RR ancient doodlebug, old CNJ box cars and cabooses needing restoration, etc.! (NOTE: This area is plainly visible to the NS main line, where you're bound to see some heavy freight action!)
Throughout the Day: Antique automobiles and trucks will be paraded through Phillipsburg today on South Main Street as part of their Motor Madness Day.
DIRECTIONS
From the East:
Take I-78 to US Rt. 22 - Phillipsburg (the last westbound exit in NJ before the toll).
Take US 22 to the South Main St. exit.
Take South Main St. through town and passed our Phillipsburg (CNJ - DL&W) station.
[At this point So. Main St. crosses over the NS (ex-CNJ) main line.]
Continue for a short distance (a block or 2) to our parking lot (across the street from Joe?s Steak Shop).
This is a large open gravel parking lot.
Park there and walk the short block or two back to the railroad station.
From the West:
US Rt. 22 to the So. Main St., Phillipsburg exit, then follow directions above.
